How did he have ”white privilege ” in college?? Really?? Do we have to insert political correctness in everything??
What an amazing story. God bless this wonderful mother!!! Thank you for sharing!
God. Can we not escape from trans world? For f sakes, Jesus ‘Mary. How about a story about how a guy rescues a girl from falling over a cliff or marrying the wrong guy or something...like naturally uplifting. Instead zombies and lost humans - everywhere.
Thank you for this. Exactly what I needed going into today. ❤️
Endlessly fascinating— what a great idea and I really appreciate that the host lets listeners share their stories in a safe place where others have similar experiences.
Keeps losing connection, all other podcasts working fine, don't know where the problem is coming from.
I hope that he has taken the time to really look into and understand this from his Mother's perspective. That he can forgive her and has a good relationship with her now. The many pics of her with her baby and child speak volumes of her love for him from day one.
I watched the documentary after listening to this episode and I was disappointed to see Steve blaming the victim which is his Mother. A young girl in the 60's pregnant unwed rejected and unsupported by the father of her baby. Simultaneously abused by her Mother and her Father's lack of protection. Just heartbreaking. Sounds like she was the scapegoat for her Mother's unhappiness. Steve has a right to feel let down, sad and confused but to blame Joannie is simply unfair and continuing the cycle.
What is the piece of music at the end and where can I find it?!
As a self proclaimed podcast afficionado this one really shines to me, but not simply due to the captivating divulgences, but the shows host. She's obviously doing a job she was born to do...high quality content and insight.
Love the show but the sound quality makes it impossible to listen to. YIKES
Fannie Davis sounds like a hero! That was a lovely story
That shoe story is one that resonates with me. Thank you for bringing back the stories of ole.
I grew up in bklyn NY but now I understand what the Jews went through. Its necessary to tell your story dont keep it hidden
This helped me to understand the mind of a dementia n alzheimer patient.
Learn the "social morays" of the times your family lived in when u were born. Never write/say you don't know what times were like. Ever. Not to change feelings, but to know MORE. I don't think it was your birth mothers idea... not in those times
Not exactly a crap sandwich. I've heard much more heartbreaking stories. But of course their story is in the Atlantic...they have "connections".
Big eye roll with this lady calling her bio-mom a “capo in the KS mob,” women didn’t have hierarchical roles in the mob. I guess the origin story of a “capo” getting pregnant, by who and why she gave up a baby wasn’t interesting enough to get even a mention. But a good third of a podcast to wasted discussing shame, narcissistic pop psychology ideas and soul journeys. I understand the host needs to ego massage to get people to talk to her but a bigger helping of facts in the story and less belabored therapy session would be welcome. Having to promote the guest’s company and website at the end made me cringe. Is it a good idea to promote the services of a guest’s company on the show?
Get better soon. We love you!
