Thank you for discussing Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians - one of my favorite large-scale works from the Minimalist canon. I also love John Adams’ Shaker Loops, but it’s Harmonielehre (particularly the first movement) that always blows me away. And if (post-)Minimalist composers have successfully integrated the Eno Music for [...] aesthetic, Michael Torke has to be at the top of the list. Background music that isn’t background music to a T (pun intended)!
Excellent listen
Thanks for answering my question ❤
A little late getting to this episode, but enjoyed it as ever. Agree about the later Prefab Sprout albums, too; deserve more credit.
So many great albums! Confirms the depressing state of mainstream radio today. Thanks Steven and Tim. 😎
I was also looking forward to hearing thoughts on Prefab Sprout's epic album from this year. Wonder why it didn't make the cut. Too much time dwelling on Stone Roses, perhaps?
Love the show and your insightful discussions! I have learned about (and subsequently listened to) so many fascinating new-to-me artists and/or albums. Wondering when there will be a discussion of Judas Priest or a deeper dive into Heavy Metal.... Looking forward to the next episode sans drinking my ears away. 🍻
Another great episode, thanks. Had thought you were going to talk about Prefab Sprout, after The The and Tears for Fears, but you moved on! In another episode, maybe. Have loved the whole series, so far; looking forward to the next one. Thanks.
Great discussion but did I miss the bit where you talk about Anthem Of The Sun or was it edited out?
