great podcast thanks Dr Flowers
I think your podcast has been hacked on this episode. What I the strange voice over the speaker that starts about 10:28.
Thank you Dr. Flowers. Your ministry has been a great blessing to me. We had a calvinist pastor come in and devastate our small church. This was before I knew anything about reformed theology. My simple reading and study of scripture clashed with what he was teaching. I found you, thank God! Keep just showing their work. Most of them won‘t do the same for you. There‘s more too the story as you can imagine. A friend of his down the road got the pastor kicked out of his own church as well. The calvinist came in and began teaching a Bible study and it went from there. He took over.
Amen. Great conclusion and exegesis of the Romans passage at the end. To take the Calvinistic understanding of it really goes against what Paul is talking about in context. If there are two possible meanings, you should probably stick with the one that supports God's character as depicted throughout scripture and in the context of the passage, rather than adding in meaning that wouldn't be there otherwise because of a new definition of the word "predestined."
The irony we find in Calvin is that God decrees some reprobate to have an experience that they are of the adoption of Grace. Perhaps Piper is in this category of God's 'secrett will' whereby he also decrees from all eternity that even some of the damned are 5 point Calvinists in their theology.
Great point you make, that one moves from general to particular
Jordan Peterson would recommend the other explaining what he thinks one has said
Allie makes such a huge leap from the idea of judicial hardening to the idea of "sending people to hell," which is not there at all! It is interesting how we especially in the US go to the text with that conception of salvation when as NT Wright says, Romans 8-9 are not even primarily about salvation.
Your explanation of prayer from the non-Calvinistic side really shows how God is our living God who is with us now and interacts with us.
A good defence of the corporate view of election, worth a listen.
Love the respect and brotherly love gentlemen. Well done and God bless.
Historical context is of utmost importance! Dr M. Heiser is big on that approach too. Keep up the good work!
Outstanding, enlightening, and truly informative. How wonderful it is when someone takes the time to truly absorbent and digest something. Thank you so much.
Dr. Flowers I love your broadcast! But can we please be done with Doctor White? After all you are discipling your listeners inadvertently and at this point I believe you are well beyond defending your position against dr. White! Please let's move on!
It’s the only view that works with the totality of Scripture and I so appreciate the times you re-cover information. It helps me retain your points.
