Graduating nursing school in 2 months! Love your podcast and wonderful stories/topics
I'm a NICU RN and pediatric critical care home health nurse here in Washington State. The original bill was to basically guarantee nurses get breaks via a break RN. Maureen was against this bill and her reason was because the smaller rural hospitals shouldn't be forced to hire additional Rns just for breaks. (That's where her comment about them playing cards and not needing breaks came in). So she put into the bill the stuff about 8hr shifts. She did this so the bill would not pass. She also stated that her mother was a retired nurse! In its original form the bill helps nurses and it did pass but without Maureen's added crap! She also kinda "apologized" for her comment and agreed to shadow a nurse for 12 hrs. Have not heard anything since. Would love to see her opinion on things after following a nurse for 12hrs. Love the pod cast, can't wait for the next!
