I need to add since I didn't finish about my experience with regular pharmacy drugs I've use everyday. I use HCTZ and its been recalled twice this year alone. Once for a manufacturer impurity and just recently for giving a totally different diuretic medication. The first recall is from a manufacturer which can cause liver tumors the second was a potassium sparing diuretic. The first recall I won't know until my 6 month required liver test catches it and the second I had no reaction to thank goodness. So whether purchased online or at a vet or pharmacy things can go wrong. My recourse on these drugs are a wait and see. The manufacturer won't even open a complaint case if you have no symptoms or reactions. I just find it hard to believe that a manufacturer sells drugs to online or pharmacies and will not back there products or the online retailers. It must be uncommon for problems to happen now since its the way things are going. Everything is going online now its convenient and saves money by cost comparisons at your fingertips.

I've been with my vet for 20 years. My dog has congestive heart failure, hypothyroidism, and severe skin allergies. She is 13+ diagnosed with CHF. She was put on Apoquel instead of steroid injections. Also put on Endacard, Vetmedin, and Lasix. She has been on Soloxine for her Thyroid. After paying $180 a month now for 3 months having to borrow from family to help pay for all these name brand drugs I Google them and found one of the pet 3rd online sellers I could get generics and name brand that does have a generic for $80 less a month. So I called my vets office to get the written prescriptions. I went there once because he didn't have them ready. I went again still not ready so I said I'd wait. He said he needed to talk to me before filling. He said the .come get the medications illegally from Vets who order large amounts and resell them plus overseas manufacturers that are not FDA approved. I said if so wouldn't they be shut down immediately? He said no. He also said what your drug companies rep said to you. Which I find a little puzzling since humans buy drugs from They I said I can get generics from you to help reduce the cost. He said he doesn't believe in generics they are not the same and may not work which will put you dog at risk. I at this point realized he was just setting off alarms and saying this that I knew were just roadblocks to keep me from buying online meds. My dog is doing so well on the CHF meds that the other Vet on the office who treats her said she could last for a few years. When I left I very upset to tears. Knowing that he put money before me being able to afford my dogs life saying medications. Since listening to your podcast I have faith Ill find a Vet like you is out there. I have to go back to get the written prescriptions since he said he would but I waited getting more upset. I'm going back today.
