This might be one of the craziest starts to an episode. I’m sorry, I know he’s 23 but when you’re with your kid, or literally anyone, and you don’t see them come out of the bathroom you wait there and then when they don’t come out you go in and look for them!
I don’t understand why you’re upset with the police. To me it sounds like they are doing their jobs by not closing the case as a sucicide. The family might not be getting updates as there isn’t new information to work with. Or maybe like so many times they are keeping what they have close so the wrong people don’t a heads up. Like with so many murders many times it’s family.
UPDATE: Afuirre was found guilty of 1st degree murder in a bench trial on December 2023 and later sentenced to 25 years
