I felt I had written your post! I was same age and remember pouring over every news article I could find about these horrible murders. I have been fascinated with Charlie Manson ever since. Fascinated in a scary way and how to avoid people like him at all cost!

@annvernon617 : I was 9 years old when this happened. It was on every news channel and cover of every newspaper and magazine. It was my first introduction to psychotic people who commit unthinkable crimes. I read Bugliosi's "Helter Skelter" years ago and kept up with what was happening to Manson, Krenwinkle, Fromm, Atkins, etc. I am glad that the podcast never mentioned that Terry Melcher was Doris Day's son...she didn't deserve the publicity then and certainly didn't at the end of her life. This was an excellent podcast. I was not aware of all that Manson went through as a child, very interesting and certainly telling as to the choices he made. Sharon Tate was gorgeous and on her way to becoming a promising actress. Makes me sad now. Thank you for another excellent podcast!

*body not today

@hippy mommy : Really enjoyed the series...but have to admit that the add that starts "looking to find the perfect gift this holiday season" right after the account of Susan talking about the she contemplated cutting the baby from Sharron tates today and giving it as a gift to Charles Manson is extremely poor add placement in my opinion...js

It could have been a really great podcast - I mean the story is the stuff of legend- but...it wasn't. I have to agree with the commenters above: too much hyperbole and melodrama. I also felt the storytelling should've been more linear. There were too many storylines going on at once, flitting between past and present, getting me confused. Otherwise it was OK, helped pass the time on my commute.

Good podcast but I refuse to listen to the “stream on consciousness” of the FBI profiler. He’s a bore.
