I’ve said this before in a review long ago, but how, HOW can this woman do so much original and fascinating research and then masterfully organize it into this amazing podcast only to have such an ego that she half ruins it with her awful voice?! If it’s not the Ts as Ds, it’s the horrendous gun moll accents, but worst of all is her *extreme vocal fry*. My God, it is so long and drawn out I sometimes have to turn off the podcast. Karina, please, PLEASE get a vocal coach, we are begging you.

About 15 years ago conservatives started to snidely refer to Democratic politicians as Democrat politicians. This is the equivalent of the 8th grade bully who refuses to call other kids by their preferred name and sticks to the nicknames he prefers. Karina has adopted this approach, using the Fox News term ”Democrat politicians.” Is this because Karina, who articulates a race and class analysis of popular culture, is a hidden conservative, or has she been overtaken by ubiquitous conservati norms

I wish you would do your homework as to how historical figures names are pronounced Estes KEfauver. He headed that committee + ran for vice president. A trip to Wikipedia would have sufficed.

I agree, if you love this podcast then you probably prefer a vintage feel to the voices. I am skipping the robot voice and hoping it is just a passing fancy.
Was looking forward to listening to the Hollywood Babylon series, but that robotic voice is intolerable. Can’t even understand what’s being said.
Brilliant! Really enjoying this series. Bad News Bears has always been a favorite (since I saw it as a kid when it first came out). Inspired me to cue up Last Picture Show for this weekend. Quibble - if the sun is rising over first base then wouldn't it set over third base?
