I totally agree with Women Role Models. However such role models are for all women; not just young women. Dismissing women who are 'not young' is ageism. Women can be engaged in politics at every age.

Thank you Julia. Personally commencing your '2020 Reflection Podcast' with 'a clip' from your Sally McManus Interview was most appropriate. 2020 has had more of an impact on women in many many ways which we have yet to fully realise. Sally's story of the injustice she felt not being able to play soccer as a child, something she was good at; in my opinion, reflects the impact 2020 had on women. We coped. Something we, as women, are good at doing. Yet, we are not acknowledged at all.

Referring to a woman as "dowdy" and "like a potato" detracts from the intended message of empowerment.

A glorious exchange between Julia Gillard and Asher Keddie! Julia is a great interviewer, whose respectful attitude and we'll researched questions elicit thoughtful and thought-provoking responses. I will certainly come back to this one again, and look forward to hearing many more of her podcasts. Thank you both...

Racism is also an issue. Maybe it was because she's a ranga?

@fqtjgp : Exactly. It's almost as though sexism is a massive issue for women around the world and in Australia!

@Facendo : She was a poor PM who used the sexism card as soon as she could

@fisher : I haven't properly listened to this yet, though I've had serious issues with Australia and it's sexism. Certain people will go on about gender equality and how there are rules in place for it, as well as options to complain. Just look at the politicians and what they say to eachother. Julia Gillard gave a strong and hard hitting speech for 15 minutes to Tony Abbott about his sexism and mysoginey. A female politician (July Bishop) on Tony Abbott's side very casually denied all issues of sexism, then recently cried fake tears when she left the party about all the sexism there and how no one listened to her in meetings. This sexism was happening when Julia Gillard actually have her sexism speech in parliament. While it's obvious with certain men, it's even worse when women turn on eachother

Weird, western feminists usually don’t care about brown wamen - they’ll be criticising the objective bigotry in the Koran next...

Keep them coming. You were and are an inspiration. I wanted to meet you at women deliver conference. You can insightful things to say about politics and advocacy. I often wonder if the two can go hand in hand. Can you be both in politics and/or a government worker and be an advocate. Who better to know the intricacies of that then you. Love your first two podcasts. Thank you for inspiring me to stay the course.
