Thank you, Julie, this was an amazing talk! I’m a retired Marine with multiple combat tours as a grunt. In the last 4 years, my wife and I have been involved in a number of abuse cases, with my bride right in the epicenter. This work has been the hardest and most painful relationally that I’ve ever experienced. I’m really discouraged and disappointed with the church leadership in all but 1 of these abuse cases. I’m ready to pack it in , your talk gives me a lot to think about.

I saw an old Christian movie that was just like this! It was called All The Kings Horses and it encouraged Christian women to stay with their abuser! Sick!

Some of these churches are so scary. That’s why I stay away

Interesting that child and adult child are taken separately. I haven’t read the book, so I’m not sure where that’s going... But wouldn’t it be ok to stop at child and adult. I don’t think adults are under parents any more. Even Jesus by age 12 was starting to make his own decisions and stayed in the synagogue against the expectations of his parents.

I would say Piper served under the elders, not the inverse.

Driscoll’s operation sounds just like Scientology.

Hillsong sounds here exactly like a cult. And that’s how it seems to be playing out more lately.

Thank you for the work you do, Julie. It’s so upsetting to hear that these church leaders and counselors are doing these terrible things, and I know most Christians are still unaware, some want to keep sweeping it under the rug, and some think if it doesn’t affect them personally then they don’t need to be concerned. Keep exposing the truth, please!
