The Cavanaugh hearing brought back feeling I thought I had buried since I was 13 when my cousin's half brother came to our house looking for his sister and raped me. It wasn't until my early 40's and going through counselling with my daughter that I was asked had I been sexually abused. It was the first time it exited my mouth to answer, Yes! Over the yrs, instead of getting counselling for that and many other tragic events in my life, I decided to look inside. Internally I felt a mess. I looked for love in all the wrong places. It took me some time to understand why I had such long showers or why I scrubbed myself so clean everyday to this day. At 51, I am now feeling a little comfortable wearing clothes that I perceive as revealing. I still cover up when I wear sleeveless and you'll never see me outside of my home in a short skirt. But day by day I am getting stronger and I hope one day to have a "normal" sexual relationship.
If you are sick, public hospitals have to treat you reguardless of your ability to pay! I got excellent care for non-hodgkins lymphoma with no insurance! The population of Canada makes it easier to provide healthcare even though its drowning the country in debt. The VA is free healthcare and the quality is horrible. Imagine a system 10 times bigger!!
