Unfortunately the cover up of this crime is most likely racially motivated.

I’m from the Owen sound area and unfortunately this is not that nice of an area. Relative to other regions in Ontario, this is one of the poorer, lees educated more rural “cities”. Rougher community. So not surprised by a dine and dash assault and homicide. Especially as the victim is a visible minority.
