To paint Islamic history in this region in a positive light. There are numerous scholarly papers about the barbaric attempt to Islamise the Seereer people who continued to resist for nearly a thousand years. He did not also mentioned african traitors who double crossed the Seereer people of Takrur who ruled the land with their lamanic lineage. In Seereer, laman means master of the land. Indeed Muslims at one point regards all pagans in this region as laman because the Seereer lamas put up a strong resistance against Islam. There are countless resources about this available on the Seereer Resource Centre and elsewhere. This scholar should be ashamed of himself. Islam is not native to Africa no matter how much he tries to corrupt West African history.

@senegambia : Your scholar is being disingenuous. He is witholding history in regards to how Islam came to West Africa in order to paint Islamic history in this region. Convert or die and enslavement was the key strategy used in the Senegambia region. Note that the scholar deliberately left out the attempted conversion of the Seereer people.
