Rose, you talk about impulsivity. I have a problem with candy and pop. I'm not supposed to eat it because i always throw it up and i always eat to much. How do i control the impulsivity especially when I'm bored or stressed?

Hello Joan. I think that makes sense given that we do have a lot of energy! Can she get involved in running or CrossFit? Or some kind of fitness that she enjoys? That would teach her to harness the energy in appropriate ways- though I see no harm in her running? I just figured out there were comments here so definitely email me if you’d like 😊 rose@thriveonlinecounseling.com

@joanmartin : I have a question Rose. My 18 year old daughter has been diagnosed with BPD about six months ago. For years she has done this thing where she runs back and forth down the hall a few times a day. She doesn't like anyone watching her do it and she says it's because she has nervous energy she has to get out. Her therapist said this is not a good thing because she is not learning self control. I never worried about it and I never saw it as a problem. What do you think?
