This is an interesting question. Strictly from a mathematical point of view female justices are more likely to be interrupted simply because there are fewer of them. The only way to tell if that is a result of gender bias would be to assemble a group made entirely of females and observe if interruptions stopped. Based on my observations of episodes of The View, I’m pretty sure that’s not the case.

Any individual or group that seeks to marginalize or repress any other individual or group, regardless of the reason, is insulting. Ignoring or disbelieving it is also insulting. Making fun of that repression ISN’T. Humor should make you laugh, but it should also make you think. I think it’s funny (and telling) that people with very different points of view can find the same thing funny for different reasons. If you don’t think something is funny, maybe you need to think about it some more.

IMO Simone Biles decision to withdraw not only demonstrated true courage, it also demonstrated true wisdom. We owe her huge thanks for the joy and pride she made us all feel watching her compete. But to the extent that we made her feel obligated to perform for our benefit, we also owe her a huge apology.

The point is made that the opioid crisis occurred in an atmosphere of regulation. Of interest is that those regulations were subverted at every turn. Had those regulations been enforced in the same way that they are with alcohol and tobacco, I suspect the opioid epidemic would not have occurred at all.

The vocal fry in this episode made it nearly unlistenable but after soldiering through, I came away with this observation. Just like with someone who's blind or deaf, this is not a problem for the speaker. However, she doesn't like it if people either don't care or if they care too much. Guess what, that's how humans roll. You're not having a sensation shared by many people. Since not sharing the sensation is not a problem for you I suggest you work on how you address this with anyone who does

Mr Reed assumes a two party system as do most voters. Our system does not use popular vote to elect candidates for president. Because of this, it will either be a Democrat or Republican that is sworn into office. However, IMO, if all registered voters voted their conscience rather than casting their vote to advance their personal agenda, it's very likely that the person being sworn in would not necessarily have popular support nationally which in turn might make them THINK before they ACT.

Oh, sorry! I was thinking that may be big boys and girls were listening to this podcast and leaving comments. Guess not so I have to say that the word I used to end my previous comment was not "pretty." The word I used actually starts with an s.

Interesting that no one has made a comment on this yet. So if Minnesota does away with the felony murder rule what happens to the conviction of Derek Chauvin? If his conviction, and the conviction of any of his fellow officers get overturned, well, I expect that will be some real pretty.

Who decides what the "greater good" is, and how do they arrive at their decision? And who exactly gets to write "the social contract?" 🤔

TO RIGHT! Equality will never be accomplished by running away. And progress is slow... extremely slow. Look at how many years have passed since the I have a dream speech on the National Mall, and that dream STILL has not been realized. But it MUST be realized because our very survival depends upon it. If we are unable or unwilling to make this realization in sufficient numbers, and let it affect our actions, we will vanish from the Earth and the universe won't even notice we're missing.

We've been here before??? When have we ever not been here? The founding fathers were nothing but a bunch of smugglers. The Boston tea party, taring and feathering, nothing more than dealing with the competition. People deny that the Holocaust ever happened. People deny the results of scientific investigation. SOME PEOPLE STILL BELIEVE THE WORLD IS FLAT FOR GOD SAKES. At this point in human history, some people just will not believe certain things. No matter how compelling the argument.
