I grew up in Great Sankey and never once questioned my mum and dads income, it was never a discussion. We didn’t eat a lot of fast food because it was considered a treat, not a food group. We drank Orange Squash made from water that came from our kitchen sink. We ate ham, egg and chips & grilled cheese on toast but mostly homemade meals consisting of meat, potatoes, and vegetables dessert was rice pudding semolina custard with tinned fruit.
