Amazing...i just watched Magnum Force! "A man DOES need to know his limitations"

I love the way he puts words together. There are those who are even more magnificent at the art of vocabulary and linguistics, such as Christopher Hitchens, but Steven is also in the pros...

As an addict in what I'll call semi-recovery, this is as if it had been pulled directly from my thoughts

None of these ideals can be tested truly because they all would be applied to a situation that already is and not a blank slate. If you try to rid the world of billionaires through redistribution of wealth they can simply grind to a halt, all sorts of things, so that you never could find out if it was a good idea to begin with. Such a thing is going to gradually change...or not. There is no simple single answer to anything and those who believe so are a danger no matter what it is they are about

I really need to change some of my lifestyle habits so that I can hopefully witness some of these things. I have believed for some time and fully expect humans to digitize ourselves and shed these mortal coils making it possible to, amongst other things, live in environments that aren't as particular. Oh I wish I'd been born a century or two from now. What will the masses do when their heavens and hells are rendered irrelevant by immortality?!

IBM should have been bombed same as Berlin

I never have actually learned about the selling of indulgences. Heard of them, yes. Heard this described, no. It is hilarious and nauseating to the point of stomach churning all at the same time. Absolutely depressing. Every day I am reminded that we are apes....

This brilliant podcast led me to :Stephen Fry reads "Sherlock Holmes" and it's awesome, he is so good at doing many voices and accents, he also read all the "Harry Potter" books way better than the movies. I hope he brings more books to life >^_^< THANK YOU!

I wonder if Stephen has read Yuval Noah-Harari's book "Sapien's". I wonder if Stephen would find Yuval's thoughts of interest in regard to this series. I think it would be very interesting to hear Stephen discuss Yuval's thoughts with him & how the evolution of Sapien's differs from that of our cousins in the ape family. Kind regards from Ted

I wonder if Stephen has heard or read Yuval Noah-Harari's books. The first book "Sapiens" deals with a possible explanation of how we came to evolve differently to our cousins. The other books in that series is well worth reading as well. It would be interesting to listen to Stephen talk to Yuval & I would love to hear his thoughts on Yuval's thoughts. Kind regards from Ted

Dear Stephen, here is a sonnet I wrote on the subject of lust. Where once a petty fragment of my lust Was swung to woman’s beauty, now I lose My nobler half, and look on golden rust, And find a rich mosaic for my muse. Farewell, my robes, for tranquil monkhood dies, As all the energy of sense doth burn, And fires of indulgence live in eyes For which I all alone of mankind yearn. All Temperance and easiness belong To he that longs for pale and youthful skin, But he that loves the symphony and song Or finds a richer store of love within, Or finds old adorations in new sin, Feels bliss to be acquaintance to a wrong.

This series is written and narrated in an intelligent and articulate manner. It distills a great deal of information into a digestible narrative that, while grand in scale, doesn't dumb down the subject matter. It introduces wonderful and challenging concepts. I love the meta- concept of calories as a driving force for innovation! I could listen to Stephen Fry read the phone book!
