Going down the jetway and boarding the wrong aircraft is NOT as uncommon as one might think. They are faulted for not matching the dispatch release ship number with actual ship number whey were on, and the ship's maintenance logbook onboard that should also match. They may have started the APU but not the engines. They would have pushed back already for that to happen.

The SAAB was a very commonly seen a/c from the 80s into about 2008 in the USA. There were 100+ operators worldwide but in the US the major operators were American Eagle, Chicago Express, Comair, Pinnacle, and Mesaba. Only Silver Airways & Seaborne still operate them in US airline service. Down under, QANTAS feeder Regional Express/REX still operates a huge fleet of 57 Saabs.
