Joe Pistone’s story is absolutely fascinating. I have to ask. How did Donnie Brasco explain his NY/New Jersey accent if he grew up in Florida? Since Joe Pistone in reality grew up in Patterson, NJ with mob guys in the same neighborhood, were those mob guys with the DeCavalcante family? Was Donnie Brasco ever at risk of being recognized as Joe Pistone by a wise guy from New Jersey?
Was Carmine Galante ever the official boss of the Bonanno family? According to some sources, Galante was never the boss but was perceived to be so powerful, that he threatened the authority of the actual boss, Philip Rastelli. That, along with Galante not sharing the wealth with other families in the heroin business, was why Bonanno boss, Philip Rastelli, with the blessing of the commission, ordered his killing. But according to Joe Pistone, Galante was in fact the boss. Who’s right?
I like this series because it’s easy to follow and not convoluted.
I’ve had to stop listening to this when I got to the bugsy seagul episodes. That whining American woman’s voice is like driving rusty nails into your ears. Ffs, get someone less annoying to do the comments.
