Wow a Princess Bride reference and--fast forward to 2020--a prediction. Nice!

Loved this discussion about design elements on DS9! Color and lighting in particular are very important...but let's not forget the design element of costuming overall--not just in the case of Starfleet uniforms. One thing I've noticed in all the post-TOS Trek series is that women are very covered up, even when they are dressed up. Even when clothing is tight, most of the time there's not much cleavage shown (Orion slave girls, Dabo girls, Deanna Troi's intergalactic cheerleader wardrobe excepted). Tights with dresses was common, for example. In addition to having created so many alien species, the attention to detail in designing each species' wardrobe is spectacular. Ferengi style, in my opinion, is a force to be reckoned with.

Great point about the look of DS9 (the station) versus the Enterprise....I am minimally subconsciously aware of what this station was before the Federation occupied it. And the main characters--especially Kira and Garak--are *always* aware of it.
