What Nathan was experiencing is the absolute truth that we are not our body. From birth, we are indoctrinated into that belief, and it becomes our identity. Because we are all indoctrinated in the same way, it is the norm. Indeed, we need a concrete sense of self (as a body) to function in the world. But anyone who has chosen to explore a spiritual path eventually comes to the realisation that we are not limited to the body, but rather, we are consciousness itself.

It’s absurd to depict what’s happening in America as a strangulation of democracy. Where else in the world could a person like Trump be elected as President? It was the very fact that America is a democracy that allowed him to be elected by half the country while the other half is foaming at the mouth in their rabid hatred. The problem with America is not this singular, eccentric, divisive individual, it’s the degeneration of our media and the heart breaking decline in the morality of the press in general.
