The irony is Emily does the same things to Lorelai

Emily has to put up with Trix and her put downs to keep up appearances. If she doesn’t put up with it, it would be gossiped about and Rixhard would be angry with her. There’s always been a openness from Trix that Emily is not good enough which is toxic. And Emily finds out how much she was despised after Trix dies.

Lorelai wants someone who looks at her like Luke looked at Rachel. She knows Max adores her and that gave her that feeling and at the time that was enough

Rewatching now and picked up that Luke gives Rachel’s jacket away after he decided he wants to ask lorelai out at end of ’date night’ ep.

I agree Scott. Luke was right off character re April. I skip most of that season when I get up to it again coz it drives me insane. He would’ve told lorelai immediately if he was on character. His dream was to marry lorelai. That whole storyline was completely idiotic

Michael winters plays a ”part” I know somone that is EXACTLY LIKE him, he acts like Taylor, only its not an act, VERY EXHAUSTING to interact with. Most of the time I just want to slap him. He’s very much a ”center of the universe” type of person and clueless about his obnoxious behavior.

I agree with you that Luke was there as a "friend". Had I felt you were taking an opportunity to move your friendship along I would have thought it inappropriate and creepy.

But regarding Joanna's correction it does make sense because at some point it was revealed that Luke turned his father's hardware store into the diner, Taylor says it at one point I believe so the timeline she gave does make sense

I really liked the exchange in convo on the couch between Mother and Daughter when Emily, finally, was complimentary. It felt foreign but, sorely needed, even if it was fleeting.
