Saru never has much authority on the bridge. He can be whatever rank he wants, but Georgiou, Burnham, Stamets, Nhan and probably Reno will disregard Saru’s flawed commands whenever they deem it necessary.

No reason not to trust that Burnham would not book it out of there with the dilithium. Burnham has always done what is best for the Starfleet crew. Book’s ship did cloak the dilithium but he could only do that from his ship.
