I just discovered this gem and am fascinated. As a daughter of a Jewish woman I inhale anything about Jewish history, since it is my history.

It appears that Uriel d’Acosta would have been judged by a young R’ Menasseh ben Israel when he moved to Amsterdam. R’ Menasseh ben Israel is an important figure in his own right. His work ”Vindiciae Judaeorum” among other works became an influence on Moses Mendelssohn and early leaders of the Haskalah. His efforts became instrumental in setting the trajectory for Jewish self-determination and identity. Maybe an episode about him would be worth it?

Why was the term ”ruthless” used by Yael to describe Juda Maccabee’s brilliant ambush maneuvers to destroy the enemy? The poor Greek army was ”ruthlessly” routed by the ruthless Judah. Really? General Patton ruthlessly routed the Germans in N Africa, Italy, and France. Those poor Germans. Really!? You purposely or ignorantly disregarded the collaboration of Antiochos’ appointment of hellenist kohanim to the high priesthood to persecute and hellenize the jews. Unpack ur revisionism.

Joseph’s books survived bc he wrote for the Roamans. He used notes given to him by Titus. (Vita) Flavius is the Roman family name of the royal family, which he adopted or perhaps was adopted by Titus. The story of Josepus’ prophecy story was purposely distorted and stolen from the Talmudic story where Rabi Yochonin b. Zakai snuck out of Jerusalem in a coffin, hiding from the jewish terroristic baryonim, and he approached vespasian with the prophecy. Traitor and liar
