Strange, no mention of any tariffs, or that the South generated the lions’ share of government revenue, while the majority of federal expenditures went to northern states. Protective tariffs, states’ rights, central banking, and slavery were all reasons for secession. The idea that slavery was the primary issue could be easily argued by looking at Corwin amendment and the ”1st” version of the 13th amendment, both put forth by northern states but that southern states rejected.
