@zaemai : Thank you so,much for making these so we dont forget history and what happened. Anyone who reads this should do more research about Carlos Hathcock. There are a fee biographies about him and they are amazing. It'll give you a much better appreciation for him. Also Chesty Puller. He is not mentioned but he was abother amazing military individual and you should check the biographies on him as well.

@Shlomo Shekelstein : enough one can see that he is moralizing the cold war too much. It should have been covered in an objective manner. I enjoyed the episode on spying I found it very interesting. It started of well, had bill covered the final twenty years of the cold war in the same detail as the first twenty years and did it in an unbiased way the podcast would've been much better.

years of the cold war. Bill left out the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and didn't talk about why the Soviet Union collapsed. He skips over the Nixon years and doesn't cover the cold war in the mid 70s during the Ford and Carter years. Bill completely skips over this era to the election of Reagan and doesn't cover the cold war in the 1980s in great detail either. One can tell that the podcast is politically biased and is not fair and balanced. Perhaps that was the goal but if one listens closely

Overall it's a good podcast in terms of detail and storytelling. Bill Whittle does a great job. The podcast started off well in terms of detail and depth of it's coverage of cold war events. However that changed with Bill not covering the Vietnam war enough he spent to much of it talking about the air war without covering the bombing campaigns against the North. He also glossed over the remaining twenty years of the cold war. They years 1971-91 deserved just as much coverage of the first twenty

I learned a bunch of stuff listening to this podcast - I think it's an invaluable source of information for later generations like me who weren't around to experience any of this.

Truth telling designed to drive liberals nuts. Loved his definition of intellectuals as having a model train set of the world that they tinker with at everyone's peril. He does a good job of weaving big events and themes covering a 40+ year span into the framework of the Cold War, a conflict he clearly sees as good vs evil, freedom vs collectivism, democracy vs dictators. I particularly liked his coverage of the atrocities committed by Soviet leaders against their own people.

Was really enjoying it when it was history, but once he defined Nazi collaborators as “good” and American citizens who don’t share his political beliefs as “bad” I was done. Not recommended. Zero stars.

Learning so much. I just listened to part one again, this time with my 25 year old son. Lots of opportunity for discussion and questions!!! Thank you

Well now I'm mad. Most podcasts have to dig their roots in to be shitty ad vehicles, you just started out that way.

Good grief. The U.S. didn't seal its fate by capitulating to the commies, (as he characterizes the inappropriate evangelizing to a nation that has no official religion) but to the shortsighted absorption of Nazis into our military and aerospace programs, which he so brazenly excuses even though we see the repercussions of this grave error on our very streets today. The US has always been at more of risk of a rightwing overthrow than having reds take the White House. Socialism in the US is for the rich only; you talk about giving everyone the government plan, and both parties go all frothy at the mouth. I came for a history of Apollo, but I noticed your MAGA hat is showing. Strange, he seemed pro-science. There are other much better histories of this era out there, without the jingoism. I can love my country without pretending it's perfect.

I'm the same age as Bill Whittle and his memories are so similar to mine. I was enamored with NASA and Apollo as a child and never got tired of watching the flights and landings. I figured by the time I was an adult, I'd be flying around in a jet pack. I thoroughly enjoyed the podcast, and look forward to hearing more. Thank you!

I clicked on this podcast because I love the subject matter, but I was presently surprised to find that Bill Whittle wrote/narrated it! For those not familiar with Bill's other work, you should look him up! He's a very talented individual.
