Intonation, is a new one for me, not yet really sure what that is but I did look up a YouTube video to try to practice with.

Wow, yeah I can relate possibly, I was told my voice can’t do certain things because I was born with thick vocal cords instead of thin tenor ones, I was told that my voice can’t certain things so I have to fake it, unlike tenors I guess that never fake anything, and Sadly I am starting to believe it’s true. No countertenor singing in my near future. Gosh all the younger folks just starting out hopefully will continue to have it better thanks to technology, I am definitely grateful for tech

Out of context again of course, but yeah sadly when we don’t get attention like those that do, it can definitely be quite emotional, and makes us question just how bad and unpleasant we must be.

Awe-some, that you are in a park. Most likely out of context but I used to practice songs out in a field on my way to school. I usually suggest this when people say that can’t be loud and practice at home.

Well it was another emotional episode for me. I think episode one made me tear up the most. And episode 3 was such nice words sprinkled throughput. Like 70 more episodes to go.

Just started listening to this one, but have to save for later but I again love that you talk about acoustics. I have again never heard that from anyone before as far as I know. But I once told someone I could hear ”the acoustics” of thier voice and I was definitely sure it was that, and not the acoustics of the room they were in. But when I have heard every other person singing the thought of the acoustics of thier voice was not present. So I have not totally understood why I don’t hear it...

I like that Ivan mentions the vocal tract. I had never heard that term until online. Although a lot goes over my head. I am glad that there exist science surrounding the voice and singing.

be done. I know I am not alone, I am sure we all have been told so many different things from friends, and even teachers that maybe are true but maybe unintentionally half truths. Well that’s enough from me for the night. So I will listen to more soon.

Friends called the pinched sound, then I had someone say I sing from the nose i had never had my beginning teacher tell me that. now I just try to copy a real singers, different posts on different platforms. I feel I can find some or similar sounds but I definitely know I can’t figure them all out. I can possibly see that I sing from the nose because that’s the way I try to feel some sensations, also the idea of head voice and singing from the mask possibly made me think this is how it should

I like that you say Texture. I subscribe to that term. Now of course I haven’t learned how to describe the ”textures” and of course I focus more on sound. Because currently I can only hear possibly the different sounds within a sound. I don’t have trained ears for pitch. Usually any singing I have done is from trying to copy the sounds I think I am hearing from actual singers. Hence why I can only sing with some textures. I used to not sing as I was so afraid of getting what one of my

Well, I will say this Ivan is very entertaining, professional, and has some amazing bedside manner. I will have to definitely listen again and definitely plan on catching up on the rest of the episodes.

I even moved some ”professional singers” at a party because of my ”interesting sounds” you mentioned falsetto, so I am thinking ”medical falsetto” is a tricky term. My experiences with this that I am allowed to share is my teacher said only men have falsetto, because they don’t have head voice. I think I was told that I am never loud, I was told that I spend to much in falsetto, and not enough on my lower notes. But I don’t think I currently like seeing that separation.

Glad we were able to hear about how your journey begin. Super cool that you had a vocal coach at such a young age. I had not heard of closure issues until this year, and now from your story. Definitely the interactions we have thanks to singing, and being willing to get up in front of an audience can have some amazing outcomes. I have had a few. I don’t usually make people cry but even with my lacking skills I have made my mother, and father cry happy tears.
