Completely love and support the intro to the rebroadcast of this episode. This just proves that history does not change a whole lot.
π crying like a baby. Thank you for sharing
I live right outside of Gettysburg. Thank you for this beautiful episode.
What a lovely idea, much nicer than re-runs! I could listen to Nate's voice all day
Such great stories and told perfectly
That bought a tear to my eye, another great story sublimely told
Well done! Very well done! Your voice, your rhythm, and your general presentation is something I've been waiting to hear amongst all these podcasts. You remind me of the podcast "The Story." I wish I could recall the host's name of that podcast. The subject matter is still significantly important. and, at some point I hope to figure out why I like your presentation so much. So far, I can say that it's the frankness in your voice, and that the content seems genuine and timeless. At least that's what I noticed so far. Please keep up the good work, and I hope to be in contact with you in the future.
Never mind. I found the info on Wikipedia. It's "You'd be so nice to come home to".
What's the song at 04.44? I really want to know. I Google searched the lyrics and got nothing. Please reply and let me know. Thanks π
Oddly enough I watched a video about Dr Couney's incubator babies last night. Amazingly some 7 thousand people lived to grow up due to that show.
Oh I'm sure Joseph Smith would have "found" the Golden Plates no matter where he lived.
Wow thank you for this, I just discovered your podcast and I'm really hooked. This episode 'The Sliebt Room' was sooo good the way you left the silence at the end was amazing I could hear a heart beat n thought it was on the recording but when I paused it it was my own, so strange to notice my own heart beat.
That music was not only awful, but so loud I could barely hear what I downloaded the pod for in the first place; you telling the story!
"How would the swans perceive these creatures on the outside of the cage, all furious, flapping on the surface, and nothing underneath?". - I am absolutely love the way you write your shows. Very unique and poetic! I discovered you from your appearance on radiolab and I have been listening ever since. Amazing job.
One of the best podcast series I have every heard. The writing is terrific and the pictures he paints are vivid.
Sounds luke you read it, but Laura Ingalls Wilder has a fascinating description in On the Banks of Plum Creek. Amazing we could unintentionally or intentionally do this.
Fascinating description. Must have seemed like the end of the world.

I burst out laughing at, "But Andrew Jackson was all cool, "Free cheese!"" I love Nate's delivery. :D
So excited that 99% Invisible featured you! Glad I found your podcast. My daughter is studying at University of Memphis. Incredible episode. Thank you! I'm a fan!
I love these wild, magical, uncanny, or tragic nuggets of almost-lost history in a well-spun tale! Thank you, Nate!
Keep up the good work!!!! Lest we forget that truth is amazing, heart breaking sometimes, but so good and important to know and remember and recall. I have always loved hearing actual stories and history is so very fascinating to me.
Why am I seeing this
