Thank you for this. Podcast How do we (as a community) respond to the reality of teachers in Catholic Schools who are leaders or take RE classes, but who dont think they and their students should follow these basic rules?

Thanks Peter. Listening to you interview Jovy and Gabe was insightful for sure especially since we had had them over for dinner in the previous few nights since I listened to the podcast. My wife Angela and I actually had you on our little speaker series called the Skype Sessions which we started in our first year of marriage in 2012 in Melbourne. Thanks again. Andy Devereux

Can’t help but relate heavily to your Parenting:Hard Mode podcast. It’s decompressing to even hear it being talked about.

Refreshing to hear something that talks about people who have certain conditions. Having personal experience with this I could agree with or empathise with much of what was said.

Love the point about people proposing solutions to problems that - if you disagree with the solution proposed (in the proposers disregard of other values in conflict) then you don’t share a concern about the problem. Issue 1: problems get packaged up into big mega-problems where there may be agreement on some components but different views on others, yet everyone is supposed to embrace the concern of the entire mega-problem in it’s entirety lest they be labelled as “deniers” Issue 2: solutions to mega-problems are almost always going to run roughshod over the values of a portion of the population since a mega-problem is so big that it necessarily requires massive change and has a correspondingly massive impact. If we looked at component problems - not in isolation but also not as if it’s inextricably linked with the mega problem, we may find that we can put in place smaller solutions to the specific components. Issue 3: Nuance and sensible divide-and-conquer approaches to mega-problems don’t fly well with a media whose bottom line depends on the capacity for sensationalisation and the ability to define good guys and bad guys in a battle between polar, over-simplified perspectives

Great episode! Fr Sam, listening to this was a nostalgic little journey back to the CAEC lunch table of 17 years ago for me, it was wonderful to hear from you after all this time :) I haven’t heard Clara speak before but I thoroughly enjoyed hearing her perspective and look forward to more in the future!

Sherry is an inspiration and we are so lucky to have her sharing her gifts with our church and helping souls find their own way back home with love and respect.

Some great insights & discussion but some more commentary about how to work within the existing systems would be useful - there are no doubt investors looking to use their wealth appropriately who need viable & worthwhile options...

This is a really good conversation, I have a question, if a priest will be forced to disclose something they are told in confession, will the same discloser be forced on lawyers if they hear the same thing from their clients? I am sure lawyers hear a million times more than any priest.
