Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this episode. I’m thrilled you found so much value in it. And you’re absolutely right, it’s essential parents talk to their kids about what interests them. We can also help our kids explore options based on skill sets that align with interests. We can discuss activities they enjoy and ask them what they love about doing those things, helping them find common denominators, interests & skills. Thanks for extending the conversation!

@jspindelman22 : Lastly I would like to comment on the advice this podcast has given to parents who are uncomfortable with career choices their students are interested in. I thought it was great how this podcast pushed parents to not butt heads but their students but show them why they feel that it might not be a good choice. I feel that they could have included the fact that parents should look deeper into what the student is interested in as well.

Continued** I found it was great that this podcast included options other than College after High School.  I feel that during this section of the podcast they could have spent more time talking about non-college careers. Although the podcast did bring up things like working in the trades I believe that it's hinted college is the better option.

Continued*I truly liked how this podcast had a strong Emphasis on the fact that High School students do not need to know exactly what they want to do after high school. It was mentioned most of the time people get a degree and might not be “ technically using” their degree. I believe this is a valid thing to think about but a degree should be chosen because there is a point where you need to choose something and run with it because many people work in a different field from their degree anyway

My rating for this podcast is 4 stars. When engaging In the Parenting What Teens Need to Choose a Career Podcast I found that I enjoyed what Devon Turcotte and her guest had to say. This podcast was created by a group with a goal to help with parenting. The main points I would like to include in this review are students knowing what they want to do after High School, College and other options, and how parents should help students with after High School choices.

Paria is amazing isn’t she?!? I so appreciate her insights and candor and I’m happy it was helpful for you. We’ve been discussing sexuality in our house for several years now and it’s definitely a process for us parents to understand as our kids question and explore gender and sexuality. You may want to listen to Sarah Sproule and John Sovec’s episodes as well for more information in this area. Thanks for listening and sharing!
