I completely disagree. You come across as if you think your opinion is more valid. It's not. My appreciation for Daniel's songwriting has nothing to do with Kurt Cobain or street cred and it's douchey for you to imply that it does. Post a link to a song you've written and let's compare it to Daniel's

If Daniel Johnston didn’t have mental health issues he wouldn’t have had the notoriety that he had. 🙄 His songwriting was not on par with other troubled creative people (like Brian Wilson with whom he’s compared to “The Devil and Daniel Johnston”) and while he may have had an ability to come up with his own songs they were all the same harmonically, for the most part. A visual artist he may have been but a genius he was not and don’t kid yourself because people like Kurt Cobain gave him some kind of street cred.
