Although told specifically to WAIT until Pentecost, the apostles took it upon themselves to draw lots (an Old Testament method for determining God’s will) after nominating Barsabbas, nicknamed Justus, and Matthias. However, Jesus chose every disciple, and this would be no different. After Pentecost, they received the holy spirit (God’s power and influence) they were told to wait for. Please also see Episode #1328 ”How Can We Be Influencers? (Part I)” for more on Peter’s spiritual maturity before and after Pentecost. May the Lord bless all of our studies!

Thank you for listening. So many struggle with addiction of one kind or another. There is no shame in getting help while still being fervent in prayer and study.

What would Jesus think of the death penalty?

Stubborn, intractable adherence to received dogma is borne of "Emotional Investment," whereby considering alternatives to firmly held ideas is unthinkable, even inconceivable. This psychological phenomenon is equivalent to the "we've always done it this way" fallacy. At its heart, an Appeal To Numbers fallacy.
