I wish to be good at something like these guys are about all things Elton John! Quite an education I’ve received so far following along! Thank you for sharing!
Love this podcast and especially the ones that break down the albums. Thank you Neil and wonderful guests!
The image of Elton traveling around America in a station wagon is fantastic! Imagine him stopping at a Stuckey's!
Finally, someone who appreciates the Don Was produced Elton music as much as I do. Those four completed tracks on the box set left me wishing for an entire album. This podcast is a must for any serious Reg-head.
Good question, and it's a bit weird that I didn't mention anything about it, given how much detail I went into for everything else. I wish I'd asked David Larkham about how he felt about the updated cover. He was involved in the art direction still at that time. The Jean-Michel Folon picture was painted in 1973 (called l'étranger), so it was something they'd seen and wanted to use rather than something they directly commissioned. I wonder whose idea it was.
I'm not sure what you're saying here. There's loads of Eltons music that I love from the 1980s onwards. It's not as good as the golden era, but there's so many great songs on those albums.
Sorry - totally didn't see your messages. I don't make any money out of the podcast. It costs me around £100 a year to host.
The Elton John AIDS Foundation has been an odd beacon along with Elton and his music. The music. I mean 92 with THE ONE and "The Last Song" albeit again, see EJAF launch. I was hooked! How hooked? Well www.Twitter.com/MenaOfficial and www.instagram.com/EltonsCloset a fanboy giving back. How much money are you making on this pod? So jealous of your endeavor!! Email me eltonscloset@gmail.com
Exhaustive! Not the podcast, the constant "Don't give us diamonds, give us real meat and potatoes instead! Bemoaning Elton's music from the 80s and beyond! WHAT? I boarded the rocket in 1992, after the formation of The Elton John AIDS, being a gay man myself, I kept to myself, didn't fully enjoy life for fear of someone "finding out" and perhaps out me at work.
I just featured it because it was originally intended for The Beach Boys
That first track Chameleon wound up on Blue Moves album 1976.
Slow Fade to Blue, Watching the Planes; If you can see me now; Can’t you see it; plus tapes of: one time sometime or never; Mr Lighting Striker man; Witches House
I can confirm the following acetates exist of:
Really excellent analysis of these songs and lyrics.
Have just recently happened on this fabulous podcast and have put life on hold to listen to them all. I do hope there will be more! Thank you for your hard work!
