Happy to hear someone echoing thoughts I had had myself about Christian Language needing to be interpreted to non believers / new believers - even imaginative and graphic old standbys like "washed in the Blood" I would add; which becomes meaningful only when the scriptures in Leviticus with The Lord explaining the "the life of the [individual] is in the blood", and other scripture explaining that Jesus exchanging his perfect life for ours [also contained in the symbol of his blood, freely and voluntarily shed for us) in, essentially, a "life transfusion" or "spirit transfusion." Which has saved us from our old offenses, and given hope of pleasing God as He did.
