Secular City, Sacred City

Welcome to the Secular City, Scared City podcast. Hosted by Paul Nason, a double (and one half) warrior of Merrimack College. Originally graduating from Merrimack with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1968; more recently, at the behest of what could only be termed a ”beckoning”, he received a Master of Arts degree in Spiritual Direction in 2022. A certificate in Spiritual Direction along the way is the half. Paul’s masters thesis focused on the possibility and desirability of developing a contemporary means of communicating about spirituality in the current time. It was decided that the new, rapidly growing popularity of the podcast medium served as the appropriate vehicle for such communication. Stories of pilgrimages to Spain and Italy, struggles with personal identity and social stigma, the fading of classic forms of worship and liturgy along with research into what may replace them and more. Everyone has a story (actually many) mostly thought mundane and yet, every story provides the opportunity to learn and expand our humanity towards one another. They are unique, personal and fabulous and we hope you’ll find them engaging, arresting, surprising, relatable, entertaining. And, of course, thought-provoking.
