The Resilient Responder

In 2003 a presentation to the Johns Hopkins Conference on Mental Health by Dr. Kaminsky. Dr. Kaminsky discussed the need for a paradigmatic shift away from previous disaster mental health practices to a concept of resistance, resilience and recovery. Imagine recruiting firefighters and teaching them to fight fire but never giving or training them on the use of PPE such as turnouts and SCBA. Imagine, that the job description is, fighting fire is a rush, and however we lose a lot of staff because they never return to work after they are burned.

While already a dedicated tough professional, this blog is dedicated to helping the strong become stronger, as well as to the development of better mental PPE for the first responder.
