As a musician, you can't and shouldn't be fixed in you thinking. Performing, teaching, studying, composing, conducting requires you to unlock the creativity that lies within, and you therefore have to unleash yourself from just the notes on the page!
In this week's 'Talking Flutes Extra' podcast, Jean-Paul is talking via Skype with Russian born flute player, composer, arranger and conductor Ivan Alekhin about his life in Russia and his studies in England at the Royal Academy of Music in London and also at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Now living in Washington D.C, Ivan speaks about the need to not only practice and study the flute, but also how you should read more literature to gain a deeper insight into life in general.
Next week, Clare returns with her 'Talking Flutes' podcast with one specifically about 'Breaking Free' as a musician!
'Talking Flutes' and 'Talking Flutes Extra' are podcast productions by the Trevor James flute company. For more information visit www.trevorjamesflutes.com
