Dolls, Dolls, Dolls, Dolls - Only Her Power Could Protect Me

Hello. On this episode we discuss Carol Shields short story "Dolls, Dolls, Dolls, Dolls." This story doesn't have a conventional story arc. It weaves in and out through the main character's memories and thoughts mostly connecting to dolls. It starts with the main characters thoughts of a letter she received from her friend visiting Japan and going on a tour through doll factories and pivots to a time the main character and her friends gave up using dolls altogether in an attempt to tackle a traumatizing event. This was a difficult story to go over due to the narration style and just having returned to the USA something with a simpler linear prose may have been more welcome though, regardless, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this story.
