Five years after the opening of the pandemic, Andrew Noymer, epidemiologist and population health scientist, speaks about the origins of Sars-coV-2, the strain of coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Following the publication of his recent op/ed piece in the O C Register he offers his best explanation of the lab leak being the most likely source. He is associate professor in the department of population health & disease prevention at the Joe C Wen School of Population & Health, University of California, Irvine. His expertise is in historical epidemiology, infectious disease mortality, and public health demography. During the covid pandemic he was a leading interpreter of covid to the public, working with print journalists and broadcasters.
