Spider-Man: Brand New Day has delivered a record-breaking opening weekend, and Guy T. Wehman, Allison Rose, and Stephen Leibowitz lead this week's FlickRadio with a look at the blockbuster's extraordinary box office performance. They discuss its rapid climb toward the billion-dollar mark, whether it could ultimately reach $2 billion, and what its success could mean for Avengers: Doomsday.

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey remains strong in second place, while Toy Story 5, Minions and Monsters, and the live-action Moana continue drawing family audiences. The team also looks at the disappointing theatrical performance of Motor City and discusses why some films connect with audiences while others struggle to justify their budgets.

Then Stephen digs into Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man, an unrated horror movie in which children who eat the title character's frozen treats become violent killers. There is plenty of gore, but Stephen finds the dialogue, acting, and filmmaking far less appetizing and explains why he understands reports of audiences walking out.

Allison has a much better time with One Night Only, describing its unusual setup as what might happen if a romantic comedy and The Purge had a baby. The romance follows a familiar formula, but strong chemistry and genuine laugh-out-loud comedy make it an entertaining alternative for moviegoers looking for something lighter.

Stephen also reviews the Brad Pitt-produced independent drama Olmo, centered on a 14-year-old growing up in New Mexico during the late 1970s while helping care for his father, who has multiple sclerosis. While Stephen praises the young lead's performance and some of the film's creative choices, the drama never completely connects with him.

The episode wraps with Classic Picks of the Week. Allison chooses Molly Ringwald's 1986 favorite Pretty in Pink, Stephen revisits the 1984 comedy Police Academy, and Guy travels back to 1946 for Robert Montgomery's film noir Lady in the Lake.
