"How would my three children respond to my impending announcement that I have cancer? I pondered that as we all sat around the dinner table talking about our day. I finally just blurted it out that I had some tests done and their results revealed that I have breast cancer. They all had heard of cancer but really didn't know what it was. I felt completely inept at determining what and how much to share in a way that wouldn't be too frightening, so I simply stated after my initial bomb drop, 'Don't worry, it's not contagious,' and soon changed the subject." ~ from the introduction of Joy is Contagious...Cancer Isn't.
