58 - The Last Goodbye - The Beginning by Bernadette Marie

This book is a bit different than our normal fare; it is a very sweet and gentle paranormal romance.  Unlike other books we typically read, the stakes are low, there is no apocalypse, and no fated mates to save the human race.  The relationship that develops between Grace and Matthew after her family’s mortuary helps put Matthew’s Grandmother (Nora) to rest is sweet and beautiful.  It feels like Grace and Matthew have each been waiting their whole lives to find each other.  The only hang up, Grace can hear and speak to the departed.  As she comes to terms with her inherited gift and Matthew offers to help her fulfill the last goodbyes of the deceased a tragedy strikes.  Matthew’s long-time friend, with hopes of becoming his girlfriend, Rebecca does not take the news of his new found romance very well.  We discuss the difficulty with showing and accepting sympathy from others and how we each prefer to be treated when in mourning.
