William Dorsey Swann was a former slave who went on to become the very first drag queen. Swann took care of their community, held the most sensational soirees and fought for queer freedom nearly a century before Stonewall. It's LGBTQ+ History Month in Ireland and the UK, it's also Black History Month in the US and Canada, so why not celebrate the life of someone who falls in the centre of the Venn Diagram of LGBTQ and POC!
