Can we make elections fairer?

With the general election rapidly approaching and the Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) voting system under scrutiny, is electoral reform back on the agenda? And what would replace MMP? A recent study by at the Universities of Cambridge and Copenhagen concluded that a perfectly fair election system is mathematically impossible. They proposed a new system called "geographically ranked guaranteed proportionality". Richard Shaw, Professor of Politics at Massey University, joins Jim to discuss.
