In April 2003, Air Force Colonel Philip Shue died in a violent car crash when his vehicle struck trees alongside a Texas interstate highway. After a year-long investigation, all the agencies involved -- the Air Force, and both local and state police -- agreed that Col. Shue had suffered a psychological breakdown and died by suicide. However, Tracy Shue, his widow, was adamant that her husband had been abducted and tortured, and then somehow broken free. “48 Hours" correspondent Troy Roberts reports. This classic "48 Hours" episode last aired on 10/24/2009. Watch all-new episodes of “48 Hours” on Saturdays, and stream on demand on Paramount+.
