Aaron and Friar James encounter a town ransacked by the English.  They risk their lives attempting to save a teen-age boy looking for revenge against the invaders.  The experience is far more than James can handle, to which Aaron attempts to mitigate by demonstrating the eternal nature of life.  Meanwhile, Pasquier continues pressing Samantha to read the Muein texts.  Yet his inability to need sleep leaves Samantha intrigued …
