Conversely, women need to be cherished above all else, to know they never have to compete for their husband's affection with hobbies, careers, or even good things. When we stop chasing marital bliss as a feeling and embrace marriage as a crucible for becoming more like Jesus, we discover that the very friction we resist is actually God's tool for our sanctification.
