The Texas Rangers had a very good weekend, erasing their Opening Day loss on March 26 to win back-to-back games March 28 and March 29 to win the season-opening series at Philadelphia. Pitching was the focus, as Jacob deGrom was scratched from his first start of 2026. Jacob Latz stepped in an tossed four scoreless innings as the Rangers took a 3-0 lead into the ninth. Robert Garcia and Chris Martin couldn’t close out the game, in part because of Jake Burger error, but the Rangers prevailed 5-4 in 10 innings. MacKenzie Gore made his Rangers debut in the finale and was terrific. He didn’t allow a hit until the sixth inning and exited after allowing two runs. The Rangers’ star on offense was Andrew McCutchen, though Burger, Corey Seager and Brandon Nimmo all homered in the series.
