How does our imagination impact our ability to empathize? Story telling, art, film, music, and books all of the ability to shape our imaginations and can move us into greater levels of empathy for others. Dr. Mary McCampbell recently wrote a book called Imagining "Our Neighbors as Ourselves: How Art Shapes Empathy".
