Part 1 of 2. Helen hasn't spoken to her sister Claire in two years—not since the accusation, not since the silence that followed. Now Claire is dead, and Helen has driven four hours to attend a funeral full of people who've heard only one side of the story. The service is tasteful. No one mentions Helen exists. She looks at her sister's body and sees their grandmother's ring on Claire's finger—the ring Claire accused her of stealing. That night, Helen sleeps. She wakes up. It's February 2nd again. And again. And each time, the funeral changes. The eulogies grow longer. The mourners stare harder. And Claire's eyes in the coffin won't stay closed. Helen is trapped in the worst day of her life. And the only way out is to remember what she did.
